Coast Guard Painting activity is underway!

Initial sketches have begun, models have been in the studio and color studies are in the works. The 8 X 10 canvas will not be blank for long!

Navy Painting Installed on May 20th, 2014

Nay painting final

On a perfect May day, the Navy painting was installed at the Committal Hall. An emotional tribute was paid to Ray Stumpf, and his wife Barb was there, surrounded by friends and family. Cemetery Director David Swantek, Project Committee Member Greg Zylka and Artist Charles Kapsner provided insight and commentary.  Dispatch photographer Steve Kohls captured some great pics, and Senior Reporter, Renee Richardson from the Brainerd Dispatch wrote about the day. Both the article and photos can be found here:

Navy Painting on Display in Duluth

The Navy painting–the 2nd of five– will be on display in the Depot in the St. Louis County Historical Society’s exhibit area through early Monday, May 19th, 2014. Artist Charles Kapsner will be at the Depot Friday, May 16th – Sunday May 18th from noon – 3:00.
